I am a contractor in the Austin area. My customer will be going back with a 22ga standing seam Galvalume roof system. Homeowner currently has radiant barrier decking. In addition, the customer has the A/C ducts furred in on the interior of the home, so all ducts are in air-conditioned space. What is your best recommendation for energy-efficient installation (battens, airspace, ISO, etc.)? How will the radiant barrier come into play with our choice of install?

I would suggest a metal roof with a reflective pigment coating. You could also cross batten on top of the existing sheathing and then ventilate the resulting chamber. Todd Miller
