TOPIC: Insulation Concerns

Purlin prep for new metal roof.

We're changing out our rusted metal roofing on a warehouse. For those purlins that are not degraded to the point of needing replacement, is there an industry standard to prep the purlin surface that would insure that the material warranty on the roofing will not be void if it should rust at or near the purlin?
