I am very interested in having a steel roof installed on our home. We are looking at a local company that carries a manufacturer called akzo nobel. I did not see them listed in your manufacturers, so I was wondering if their products are any good? It says they offer a 40 year paint warranty and that it is coated in ceram-a-star. Is this a good product? Also, they say it can go over existing shingles, is this true? Thanks

Akzo Nobel is a paint and coatings producer. They are not a metal roofing manufacturer. Ceramastar is one of their paint finishes. It is a high performance siliconzed polyester coating. It is a very good finish. As far as installing over existing shingles, that question depends upon the metal panel. I would suggest knowing who the panel manufacturer is, getting their opinion on this, and verifying what warranty you will receive from whom. Many metal roofs though can be installed over old shingles. Todd Miller
