What product or process can you recommend for washing/cleaning a charcoal grey metal roof that has lost its shine and looks dull?...most likely from pine needles/debris and pollen. Thank you.

A light power washing from an experienced professional would be best. Todd Miller

If the paint has oxidized due to age, there is not a lot that can be done. Power washing with a light detergent is pretty simple ... not a lot of explanation I know to give ... you hook up the power washer and go ... make sure your spray is not so strong as to damage the panels or paint ... do not spray forcefully into panel interlocks. The reason I suggest a professional is this is very dangerous. You are on a slippery wet roof. It is important to be harnessed and tied off per OSHA regulations. Todd Miller

You can wear soft soled shoes. There are also products called Cougar Paws and Korkers. I have seen people make boards before to put on the roof, or hang ladders off of the ridge. Todd Miller

I've been told I can use a power washer to clean my metal roof while i am standing on the ground. If I am spraying UP, how do I keep the water from spraying into the ridge vent. I'm assuming it would be bad to have water to up there and leak into the roof. Thanks.

You will just have to be careful to not spray up into the ridge vent. No special tricks -- sorry. Todd Miller
