My 105 yr old home has no insulation. Construction is sturdy but and simple. The house is approximately 2000 sq ft. It is on piers about 2 ft above ground level. Walls are horizontal boards on the outside and horizontal bead board on the inside with no horizontal braces between vertical studs. Rooms have 12 ft ceilings which are also bead board. The roof is very steep (pitch unknown) and is partly covered with raised seem metal and partly antique metal shakes. There is plenty of room in the attic to build several rooms if desired. There is no insulation or house wrap anywhere. Lots of airflow when the wind blows. The attic has 4 large vertical vents perhaps 3 ft x 3 ft in each gable. Currently using gas space heaters and window AC but need more effective climate control and less energy costs. What do you recommend..

thanks for the input. I was wondering if I should also add reflective type insulation on the top of the attic floor or to the underside of the roof joists. If this is not necessary, is there any value to using white blown fiberglass on the attic floor to get some reflective effect?
