I install a new roof and now it has white spots appearing on it. It did get rained on while stacked before installation. It was on a slope so the water could run off and covered like they ship it. It was about a month from time of delivery to time of installation. The manufacturer has come out and looked at it from the ground and says that it is wet field storage and that is not covered under the warranty. They say they are not at fault.
1. Can wet field storage happen that quick.
2. How can I find out if that is truely what the white spots are. Can I send a piece off to get it tested or have a un-interested party come out and look at it. If so how do I find that someone.
The manufacturer has agreed to replace the metal but not the labor of pulling it off and putting is back on. Does that sound like something that they would do if they were not at fault. Thanks....ZC

ZC,
It can happen that fast and I've had it happen that fast. You can email me some pictures at [email protected] and I will look at them. As far as the manufacturer replacing it, it could be the supplier that sold it to you is putting some pressure on them if the supplier buys a large amount, but I would think mostly, they want a happy customer and one that will refer others to them because they helped with your problem.
If your material is galvalume with a clear acrylic coating(galvalume plus) you can try touching up a spot with a clear acrylic spray to see if it helps. I have had some with the water damage and after about a month in the hot Texas sun the roof pretty well matched out. But that wasn't severe staining.
