A Salesman of an Aluminum roof recommends Al or Ashphalt. Other steel roofs are not worth the investment. They will eventually discolour, rust and then leak. Is there a good in between solution?

Steel coil/sheet which has been coated with a minimum 0.90 oz. of zinc per square foot giving the product excellent corrosion resistance. G-90 galvanized steel is considered an acceptable exterior grade material and is the dominant base material used for Kynar 500 finishes. Galvinzed steel holds up very well, I think your salesmen just wants your money. You need to do your research,it depends on what it being applied to barn, house etc. Their are different gauges, and different grades of steel

There are positive attributes to both metals. Now, in the greater scheme of things, the old adage you get what you pay for tends to hold true in roofing as well but that does not mean that lower cost products are not appropriate. I would in any event make sure you check into the contractor well and know them and their work very well. Todd Miller
