Thanks for responding. No, I do not know the manufacturer. Our roof is not very steep and the snow sits there for days. When it comes down will ever break a metal vent pipe - could kill a person. I was wondering if the heat tape a ways up would intice it to come off in small patches. My husband says it will tear the tape off..
