We have installed a 12-12 metal roof on strapping with #15 felt as required by local building code. The attic is insulated with a vermiculite type insulation but there is not a vapour barrier between the ceilings and insulation. There are also metal valleys on this roof and we are wondering about capilliary action between the metal roof and valleys. There are what appears to be metal vented soffits but no gable vents or ridge vents. From inside the attic there looks to be some issues with condensation when the outside temperatures drop below -2 celcius. The roof has been on this building for a few years now and never shown signs of condensation until we had real bad weather with lots of snow and temperatures from -2 to -20 celcius. What do you think the problem could be and what are your suggestions to rectify this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
