I'm building a 3100sq. ft. home now with a 12/12 Roof over the vast majority of the house. The roof is chopped up a bit with different roof lines but the vaulted celings and 1/2 of the home is 12/12. I'm thinking about using open cell foam to insulate the entire house. What should I do about the roof? Would it be ok to just use roof felt as my base and then apply the metal roof or should I use some other insulation or barrier between the felt and metal roofing?

Most products are intended for installation over underlayment and decking. Additional insulation is not necessary but could be an option with some products.
