This question comes up regularly due to new codes, new customers, new architects, etc. Has steel sheeting, galv or galvalume, been classified with a fire rating? Customers are always asking if it has a Class A fire rating. Is there a documented response to this question? gp

Under the IBC, I believe that all steel roofs now get Class A when installed with certain underlayments. The best thing you can do is check with the manufacturer of the product being installed. Unfortunately, code ratings are given to products on an individual basis. Todd Miller
