I'm a remodeling contractor in the mountains of southern UT. I'm getting more and more calls on metal roofing leaks! The leaks only show up in the winter time. The water proofing part of the job, seems to be the real problem. Like felt paper damaged at the transition from gable to covered deck caused by large gaps in the OSB to T/G. and then not repaired. The customer all say the same thing, All the roofing contractors do is get on the roof and ad another case of silicon! My main question is if the water proofing system is done properly, should you need any silicon between the valley metal and the over lapping metal panels? A recommendation on a good quality deicing system would be very helpful to!! Thanks BJ

An interlocking valley which most people will agree is best will not require sealant. Todd Miller
