I have a ranch style home I am in the middle of getting my home remodeled. I am getting two rooms added onto the back of my home, than getting a metal roof installed. My contractors said that they would not have to put decking on the side of the house that the additions are on. I was just wondering if this is standard not to put decking on before putting on medel roofing. And also how this will effect my engery savings.

Most metal roofing manufacturers will suggest decking on a job like yours. It helps minimize the risk of condensation issues. Check with the manufacturer and adhere to their instructions. Can the lack of decking (in your case as described) lessen energy efficiency? Yes. Todd Miller
