We have an almost flat roof over the back portion of our house. It has metal roofing, and we have a problem every year with ice back up and occasionally resulting water back up inside. It is a northern exposure roof. We have considered heating coils for the edges to improve runoff, but are not sure if this is advisable. If it is, what are the concerns regarding heating coils and a metal roof?
