I am considering installing a steel roof over a 20 year old existing asphalt shingle roof. This roof is an A frame design with a 12X12 pitch and under a cathedral ceiling with no attic ventilation (there are some gable vents). Is it possible to achieve some beneficial ventilation with the installation of a steel roof?

There are products that could be installed on vertical battens followed by horizontal battens, and then bring air in at the bottom and exhaust it at the top.
