Can you paint a rusted metal roof? Will it peel ? I've been told to paint it and other person said to coat it. Thanks

I assume that by "coat" you are referring to something like an elastomeric coating. If you just want to improve the looks, paint is fine. If you're hoping to also correct any deterioration that may be on an old metal roofing, a coating may work better. Todd Miller

Yes you can coat the rusted metal roof with EPDM liquid rubber. However it is recommended that a corrosion inhibitive primer first be applied to areas where severe rusting has occurred. Liquid Rubber does not contain any corrosion inhibiting pigments but it is such an effective moisture barrier that it may be directly applied over light rust without a primer. For further details, check out: http://www.epdmcoatings.com/ and http://www.buyliquidroof.com/ Hope that answers your question!!!

Remove as must rust as you can by mechanical means and apply a rust inhibiting primer before you apply ANY caoting.
