We had a record two feet of snow fall on our Virginia shopping center metal roof. Our contractor says some roof sagging is "normal"--up to an inch or more without any danger of collapse. Should I take his advice with confidence or should I get more input from other experts? The ceiling tiles are sagging about 3/4 inch already.

I am not familiar with the design loads of your area and if this is an expected load then it should be designed for in the building. I would talk to your building designer. If you have a concern, then you can have somebody remove the snow.
