I have an older tin roof that still seems to be in good shape but is beginning to rust.
Will a good quality rustoleum oil based metal exterior primer and oil based finish coat work for this job? Thanks for any feedback.

I have two houses and a large garage, all with metal roofs that we are going to need to paint. What kind of preparation is needed before we start painting?

I would power wash them and, any exposed bare metal or rust you cannot remove should be covered extra well with a rust inhibiting primer. Also, take this to closely inspect any sealants on the roof as well as critical areas like chimneys, pipe penetrations, etc.
