We have many clients that would like to use metal roofing on out-buildings such as pole-barns, hay storage, etc. - however owners would like to build these as cheaply as possible and would like to use the metal roofing without a layer of plywood under the roofing, using 2x4s laid flat at 24" on center for attachment. Is there any technical information out there that would allow us to use metal roofing for these types of applicaitons?

Many metal roofing systems can be installed this way. Check out the manufacturer's list above for specific technical information. Often this information can be found on their websites, or if not by calling them.

Thanks Nate. You may also want to contact the Metal Building Manufacturer's Association.
