metal over shingles

I am considering putting on a metal roof over shingles. The contractor suggested that I use a foam insulator that they use in their installations. It has a spotted coverage of foil ( not solid) on one side and a plastic film stuck to the other side. The contractor said they would put this over the shingles, then put the metal over this. Is this going to cause any problems.

It depends upon the exact panel being installed. You will need to check with the metal roofing manufacturer. Todd Miller
