I have an approx. 1910 house that currently has cedar shingles with at least one layer of asphalt shingles. I would want that all removed for the best results. The question is: Under the cedar there are hardwood slats [maybe 4-6 inces wide] horizontal to the bottom edge of the roof that the cedar was nailed into. They are not touching each other, but the gap between each slat is not large. Would this job require a plywood or other base installed over the slats for a vertical metal roof installation? Thanks, TGS

It all depend supon how the product has been tested and approve dby its manufacturer. As long as you use a quality underlayment you will probably be okay but always check and adhere to manufacturer recommendations. Todd Miller
