Within the quote to install a residential standing seam metal roof, one of the roofing contractors has submitted a proposal to employ a "passive venturi ventilation system". Accordingly, no ridge vent is to be installed. Anyone have any feedback on this approach? Thanks in advance. RJ

I tend to be a fan of ridge venting because it creates more air movement across the entire bottom side of the roof deck. However, large venturi vents can certainly move the air and provide the desired effect in your area which is to keep the attic cooler. Todd Miller
