What are the significant considerations in choosing a standing seam vs screw down metal roof? Any special considerations regarding type of roof or installation of metal roof given the high humidity in our area?

I am not sure there are particular considerations so much as just understanding the differences between the two and also understanding about the different paint finishes offered on both.
If you email me at [email protected] I have an article I will send to you.

I would like a copy of the article as well.
I am in Central Alabama, building a new house and plan on using spray foam insulation throughout. It seems like the 3/4" plywood is the preferred roof decking. That is about all I have to this point.

I am also interested in the article. We are replacing roof and they
suggest placing metal right over old hallmark 40 yr shingle. What are your feelings on this? Also, we have turbin vents and should we keep these. They said we would get good ventilation from the ridge cap. is this correct? Appreciate any info. since we have just started gathering facts. We are in a neighborhood and will be the first home with metal roof if we do this. We are in Texas, humidity and storms and occasional hail.

Installation over existing shingles is possible with many metal roofs.
If they add a ridge vent then you must have soffit vents to feed air to the ridge vent.
Please email me at tmiller@classicroof.com and I will send you the article.

Todd,
Can you tell me about the new synthetics they are using instead of felt for underpad for metal roof? Muellar calls theirs Titunium UDL but we are trying to decide if it's worth the cost.
