we installed a 5v metal roof and the city inspector is asking us to install chalking under the cap. the cap doesnt sit flush with the panels, it has a 1/4" bend turned down. what do you think?

I would refer back to the manufacturers' instructons. Some manufacturers do call for a metal Z Closure or a foam strip closure to be installed between the Vs of the panel. Putting sealant in there will accomplish the same thing (prevention of ingress for insects, wind-driven rain, etc.) but, depending upon the line of sight, it might not be real pretty. Todd Miller

Hi, I recently had a 5-v metal roof installed in my homel. My concern is with the screw fasteners, when you look at the roof from a few angles you can see the pattern, all the roofs in the area the screws are hardly visable. Is this normal? or did the installers fastened the screws incorrectly. please advise.

It is not unusual for the screws to be visible, particularly from certain angles. Still, I suggest taking a picture of the roof surface and sending it to the roofing manufacturer for their evaluation.
