I really cannot relate to the structural quiestions you have raised though the concerns expressed to you may be valid. However, as far as the feasibility of installing standard shingles over metal? I would not do it. Todd Miller

I have 100 SF flat tin roof with built in gutter covering a front porch. Whenever it rains the rust drips down all over the place. I want to use asphalt shingles and aluminum gutters. Can I plywood over the tin? Is there another way this needs to be done?
