Plastic covering on metal roof

We had metal roofing installed on a portion of our new home in the beginning of the summer. Our builders chose to leave on the plastic covering until the painting had been completed so that no paint would get on the roof. However, the hot summer days fused the plastic onto the metal and will not come off. Do you have any suggestions?

I am sorry ... I do not think there are any special tricks for this. Todd Miller
