I have an open RV shed with a metal roof. Under certain weather conditions, so much condensation builds up on the underside of the roof that it begins "raining" inside the shed. The problem is so bad that having the roof is almost pointless. Numerous replies I've read have suggested that ventilation is key; however, this building is entirely open with absolutely no restriction to air flow. Does a metal roof of an open building like this need to be insulated? Now I'm concerned about other sheds I want to create for livestock and what I need to do to prevent condensation in those buildings.

When warm moist air hits a cool surface, it will condense. This could happen on the situation you describe and could be even more likely to occur over animal confinement. Air movement is a key factor in stopping this, as is minimizing moisture in the air. Spraying the underside with icynene insulation is a good option as well.

We have the same "raining" situation on the room we are intending to make into a sunroom, but currently it is open on both ends. Would the icynene insulation stop the "raining?" Where can this type of insulation be purchased?
