We have a house with wood siding that was covered for years by vinyl siding. We have removed the vinyl siding and are returning to the wood. The house has three additions that attach between the first and second floors. The standing-seam roof is bent upward at the transitions and was under the vinyl. How can we flash these transitions? You will need to step flash out of each coarse of the clapboards if possible, down over the metal roof.
The other option is to try to make a sawcut into the clapboards, parallel to the roof deck, and insert a flashing into this.
