We are installing Galvalume 24ga. Snaplock 100. A few questions for you all. 1) Do I need decking under the galvalume or can it go directly on Lath? getting different recomendations from contractors. Will one installation over the other a) disqualify the warranty? b) be more or less energy efficient? 2) Does galvalume qualify for energy star tax credit? 3) do you need a radiant barrier under a metal roof? Thank you for your time, W.Waggoner

If you are using a snap together profile it probably does not have the strength to span open purlins. On the other hand, a double locked mechanically seamed panel will be able to span purlins. The manufacturer of each panel will have spec sheets that will tell you if it can or cannnot. I suspect not on the snaplock. Wade

The manufacturer of the roof system you choose to use should be able to answer questions 1 and 2. As for radiant barrier insulation, I would consider using it in Austin.
