Hello- I am attempting to detail a metal roof that will be installed over a wood frame home. I am trying to get several factors to come togeather and would like to hear your thoughts. 1) I am planning to use a sprayed-in foam insulation against the bottom of the roof deck that will exclude the ability of venting the attic; 2) I have over hangs that will be at least 24 inches, in some places larger and; 3) I am very interested in keeping conductivity from the roof to the deck to a minimum. So, my problem really is with seperating the roof up from the deck and with ventilation. I have thought about a system of pulins over the deck but I am concerned about uplift/attachment. Purlins would also probably block most of the air flow. I am also thinking about using corrugated roofing to allow the ventilation in the corrugation. Do you have any suggestions?

It is possible to installed vertical purlins and then horizontal with some roof systems and this can be very effective. However, many metal roofs through their shape have little deck contact. You mention corrugated products and there are also the various shake and tile profiles. Todd Miller
