Metal roof and Lighting?

after several days of thunderstorms, our news channel recommended, the usual, do not stand under a tree and do not get under anything that contains METAL!!! My concern is: Can Metal Roof attract lighting during a Thunderstorm. I am in Florida, the Lighting state of the US... Thank you for your response.

Metal conducts electricity. It does not "draw" or "attract" it. Lightning hits the highest object in an area, regardless what it is made from. Todd Miller
