We are considering a vertical panel metal roof on new construction. What are my options for thickness of the metal and the pros and cons of the choices.

Metal thickness is only one aspect to consider. There is also product profile, finish, and installation. Most standing seam will be either 24 or 26 gauge in steel. (26 gauge being thinner.) Through-fastened products may be 29 gauge. Aluminum standing seam will usually be .032" I would always check into performance testing of the product especially in regards to uplift resistance. A well designed thinner gauge product can out-perform a poorly designed heavier gaueg one. Todd Miller
