this winter, ice and snow slid down the roof and knocked askew, the soil pipe from the bathroom, which broke off inside the roof. is there a commercially made guard or diverter available that i can buy and install to prevent this from happening again? or , does anybody have any suggestions to eliminate my problem?

Yes, there are some things like that available. I think that Harvey Industries, located up your way, will be able to give you some good direction. Todd Miller
