Hello, I have a metal roof question that I have not been able to get answered anywhere so I appreciate this forum. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Can changing my ridge vent and cap to a baffled type vent really improve air flow per the manufacturers claim? They talk about the baffles creating a negative pressure by wind moving over them which creates more of a draw thru the vent. The one I was looking at was the MultiPitch Filter Vent by Air Vent. I currently have “ProfileVent” with an aluminum cap over it. It seems to me that because we have a pretty steep roof pitch the cap makes it difficult for air to escape plus the vent material seems crushed. The Air Vent product looks like it vents out of the top so a steep pitch would not cut down on air flow (possibly an improvement even if the baffles don’t help.) It looks like it could be mounted on the ridge after closure strips are applied to the roof. Our soffit vent is continuous and the proper-vent is unclogged but there is no sign of air flow thru the ridge vent when I hold up a flame or light piece of paper.
I appreciate any help you can provide!

It would be hard to add a baffle to Profile Vent. However, you could remove the existing assembly and replace it with a baffled system.
I would contact your metal roofing manufacturer and/or installer.
