Does the use of paints with polyester and other synthetic substances affect the recyclability of steel roofing? Does the aluminum, zinc and silicone coating for Galvalume affect recyclability? Painted steel roofing, regardless of paint and metallic coating type, is 100% recyclable. Additionally, the steel used to make roofing has, in most cases, about 35% recylced content.
