I've got an aluminum roof that is about 20 years old. I bought the house two years ago. It is the style that looks like a wood shingle. I have a few areas with minor leaking, but nothing severe. I've had two roofing contractors stop by (completely uninvited) who have said the roof has hail damage. They have each offered to have the roof replaced at no cost to me... meaning they will reimburse me for my deductible. I have insepcted the roof and there does appear to be fairly extensive hail damage that I never noticed before (round dents that often appear on raised seams, etc). In addition the roof seems to have lost a lot of it's color and many of the "shingles" are collapsed, presumably from having been walked on. Should I trust these drive-by roofing contractors? If not, what would be the best way to proceed with this? Interestingly, both of them claim to be the original installer.

Mike, My guess is that this roof was either manufactured by my company or is a product that we now manufacture. Can you email direct to me with info on the contractors please? Also feel free to send me pictures if you wish. [email protected]

Thanks Todd. I appreciate your willingness to help. I was really just looking for some general advice on how to proceed with this. I'm a bit concerned by the tactics of these contractors. But I'm obviously intrigued with the possibility of getting my roof replaced for free. I'm also curious why you concluded that your company manufactured my roof. Thanks again for your help. Mike

Most of the aluminum shake shingle style product lines are produced by my company. We have a total of 6 different styles. Additionally, we have sold a lot of product in north TX over the years.
