I recently had a standing seam roof installed on my new build home. My question is about the ends of the seams themselves. The exposed cut ends are unattractive epspecially where they terminate on my observation deck where they are in plain view. They also may be a safety issue for children as they are within reach from the observation deck. Since the install I have noticed other roofs where they have wrapped the ends, obviously it is too late for that. I asked the roofer and he said they could put silicone in the end but it would deteriorate and look bad. Any suggestions?

I would go back to the roofing manufacturer and ask them if they offer a closure of any sort. Otherwise, I would use a butyl rubber sealant color matched to the roof. Todd Miller
