Ridge vent for corrugated galvalume roof?

I've got a 7/8" corrugated galvalume roof on a new home being constructed. The roof (8/12 pitch) has a ridge vent, and currently there is a continuous piece of galvalume flashing about 8" in width that is screwed down over each side of the roof spanning the ridge vent. With the recent snow storm, snow appears to have made it's way up the corrugations, under the flashing and into the attic where it melted and destroyed some drywall. The installer has made a couple of suggestions: 1) put a wider piece of flashing on -- something on the order of 12 or more inches. 2) put steel wool under the flashing acting as a sort of "filter" to keep the snow out 3) put a continuous triangular "snow guard" similar to what's being used as the snow guard for the gutters on each side of the existing flashing to "push" the wind up and over the top of the roof. I'm the uninformed owner, and I'm looking for some advice/wisdom on how to properly construct a ridge vent for a corrugated roof that will minimize the chances of this happening again. Thanks for your help.

I would look at products like ProfileVent, Cor-A-Vent, Roll-Vent, and CobraVent. Also contact the roofing manufacturer. Todd Miller
