I have hired a contractor to build a house for me. I have requested a standing seam roof to be installed. Does the sub who installs the roof have to have a roofing license or can the sub work under my general contractor's roofing permit?

Let me makes sure I understand the process. What has happened is that my general contractor pulled a roofing permit, but the contractor does not have a roofing licence, nor does the sub who installed the standing seam roof. So between the sub and the contractor, who is supposed to have a roofing license? Is a roofing license even required in this situation?

I am not 100% certain but I believe that whoever pulls the permit should have the license. In this case, it was your GC. I am not sure where you are located. Not all states and localities require a roofing license.
