I am building a new house and installing a metal roof.I put down tech-shield decking then 30lb tar paper with my 1x4 laths next. 26ga galvalume metal will go on top.I have been told that thru the years the condensation from the metal will rot my laths and decking and that the tar paper will break down. I put down the tech-shield so my house would be cooler not for water problems. Please advise if I need some type of other moisture barrier, etc. I will be having ridge & soffit vents installed

Doing so would allow you a ventable air chamber which can enhance energy efficiency. However, if you have good attic ventilation and insulation already, it may not be necessary. Also, be aware that not all metal roofs can be installed over battens like this. Many products require complete solid decking and underlayment. Todd Miller
