ok we have a garage that is approx 19' x 22' and the previous owner put house shingles on itthe roof has the sharp slant and is short in front and the pitch in the back is very slight and long. i know it needs rooled roof or better but i was gonna go with metal roof lowes has a panel thats 2.5' x 12 and i figured it would take 16 panles to do the roof. ive never did this kinda thing before i have a really good idea how its done but i need some advice to get going in the right direction.

First of all make sure that your roof has adequate pitch for the product that is being installed. Next, make Lowes give you instructions for the product you're buying. Metal roofing is not generic. Instructions will be product specific. If they cannot give you instructions then it is likely a good idea to find a different product and supplier. Todd Miller

Metal panels bought off the shelf from "home centers" will almost certainly require a minimum slope of 3:12. David, I would suggest you determine the slope of the back side of your garage since it sounds like it is the lowest on the entire roof area. Once you have determined the slope, then you can begin product selection utilizing this website and the member companies to best determine your panel need. I would not expect much metal roof panel expertise from the "home center" of choice. I know the urge to buy what is in front of you is great. That is your choice, but utilizing a panel in a non-recommended slope can lead to big problems later on.
