I'm installing a metal roof on my fathers house for him. The question is:
We get over 12' of snow a season. From time to time I have to use the roof rake for a couple of feet up from the eaves. With the screws (hex) securing the metal on the rib it will allow the snow rake to catch everytime. Is there an alternative that I can use or apply instead of the hex scews for that first row? I was thinking of some sort of strong contractors adhesive? Please let me know.
Thank you very much

Adhesive probably is not a good idea.
If you have the attic well insulated and vented, you should go a long way in avoiding any potential for ice damming. Snow on the roof is fine. Snow melting high on the roof and then running down to unmelted areas is when the problems occur.
