Existing home has two shed type roofs, one pitch is steep the other is shallow (about 3 in 12. There is no attic or crawl space, just 8" of insulation between 2x10. I have been experiencing condensation leakage and possible ice daming on conventional shingle roof. Planning to reinsulate with foam in place and eliminate existing ridge and soffet vents when I go to a standing seam roof. A friend referred to this as a "hot roof system". Does this sound like the right thing to eliminate all the venting? What should I use between the decking and roof?

This can work successfully but the key is making sure that no moisture gets through or around the spray foam insulation. Todd Miller
