tar paper covering for cold roof

I have tar paper on but wont be able to get metal on for a few months can I cover tar paper with a thin coat of roofing tar for winter? thanks

I am not sure that would help but you can try. It would be very messy in the spring. You may wish covering everything with one of the new synthetic underlayments.
