Strap the roof vertically over the rafters with a minimum 1" board and then select a metal roof system that installes on horizontal strapping. Ventilate the air space then at both eaves and ridge. Also choose a light colour or an Energy Star colour to reflect the heat. This will reduce the heat transfer by over 70%.
