I recently bought a 50 year old home in Hawaii that has a metal roof. I do not know the history of this roof, but I notice water stains on the corners of the inside ceiling. It was disclosed by the previous home owner that they did repairs to the roof, but the details of the recent reparis are unknown. My preference is to maintain the metal roof and repair any damaged areas. But every roofing compnay I've contacted all have suggested that I replace the entire roof with asphalt shingles because the metal roof would be too difficult to repair and finding replacement materials in my area would be a challenge. I've contacted about 7 roofing companies and received quotes to replace it with asphalt shingles. I just found this website, so I'm wondering if it would make sense to get estimates to repair the metal roof and compare the estimates with replcaing the roof with asphalt shingles?

I would suggest contacting a contractor who is experienced with metal roofing and having them take a look at your roof. The problem could be fairly minor. Todd Miller
