1x4 covered by plywood to cut down on rippling

Having metal roof over shingles...1x4 are laid..would plywood help eliminate excessive gas-canning( as roof is quite wavy)? Thank-you

Depends on style and gage of product. In the lighter low profile it will help a little but not in the heavier gages.
