What type of decking is required under a metal roof? Does it have to be plywood or can it be a grid system of 1x4's between the trusses. Also, can an underlayment be added after the roof is already installed?

Underlayment must be installed before the roof is. The question of decking or not is determined by the particular product being installed and what its manufacturer calls for. Todd Miller
