Hi, Is butyl caulking the best caulking choice for galvalume roofing? Or are there better or newer alternatives that will last longer in a steel roofing application? Thanks Aivars Berzins

Butyl works well with most roof coatings and wall materials but generally you get what you pay for. Get a good two part caulking that usually comes with a 20-25 year warranty.

Hi Allan, Thanks for the reply! Can you expand on the "two part caulking" part? I've only seen butyl sold in caulking tubes - you just squeeze it out in the application area. Thanks, Aivars

Sorry, it is in a tube but it has two main components. Look for a caulking that comes with a minimum 20 yr warranty which will probably cost arount $4-$5 a tube.
