I work in the construction department of a new resort with a western theme. We are trying to incorporate rusty corrugated metal roofing into our theme, but some of our homeowners are skeptical as to the durability of RCM. In order to compensate for this we are prepared to use a thicker guage metal to increase the life of the roof. Do you hve any information as to the average life expectancy for approximately 22 guage rusty corrugated metal?

Depends on the environment and as you are in an area wirth snow, it will tend to accelerate the oxidation process. They do make paints that come close to imitating the patiena. Try going to US Steels web site. They made a product at one time called Corten and now have a painted steel that matches the patiena.

Generally, I would not suggest this as it shortens roof life. There are many good painted products that resemble weathered steel. Todd Miller

Patina finish is all one color, does not look like distressed or rusted steel. Is there not a distressed corrugated roofing with a seal coat to stop or slow the process? I want this for my house to go with the adobe finish SW look and landscaping. Please advise of the cost for such product if it exists and where to find it?
